The Rules

  1. Only Images taken on a smartphone or tablet will be allowed. Images from digital cameras are not permitted. Image metadata will be checked to ensure compliance with the entry criteria.
  2. Persons of all ages residing in South Africa are welcome to submit images. Winners must produce proof of identity on the South African Mobile Photo Awards’ request
  3. By registering and entering the South African Mobile Photo Awards the Entrant hereby accept these Terms and Conditions. By entering, the Entrant agrees and acknowledges that the South African Mobile Photo Awards is permitted to receive their registration data.
  4. All entries must be submitted via Social Media (Facebook, Instagram and or Twitter)
  5. Entrant asserts that all submitted images have been shot and/or edited (processed with mobile apps) or otherwise created with any and all known mobile phone and tablet devices. No desktop software is permitted. Entries which do not conform to these rules will be disqualified.
  6. Entrants asserts that they have the right or authorisation to submit their images to the South African Mobile Photo Awards and that the images they submit are their original work and do not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties.
  7. Entrants hold the South African Mobile Photo Awards and their respective management, judges, subsidiaries, agents, sponsors, vendors, and affiliates harmless from any and all claims of liability resulting from your entry.
  8. Entrant grants the South African Mobile Photo Awards and their respective management, subsidiaries, agents, sponsors, vendors, partners and affiliates the right to use submitted images for promotional purposes.
  9. Entrant retains 100% of the copyright to their images.
  10. Entry constitutes permission to use Entrant’s name and likeness for promotional and publicity purposes.
  11. South African Mobile Photo Awards reserves the right to adjust these rules within reason and within accordance with standard practices associated with similar competitions and open gallery calls.
  12. To enter you must upload follow the three steps (Form, Social Media Post and Hashtags)
  13. Entrants must be able to supply the original, high-resolution image on request. 
  14. There is no time or date restriction on when the image was taken.
  15. Entrants may enter as many categories as they wish, however, they cannot enter the same images into more than one category and a maximum of 5 images per category is allowed. 
  16. Entrants warrant that entries will not contain any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libellous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content.
  17. Each entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity;
  18. The entry does not include, trademarks owned by third parties, copyrighted materials owned by third parties (including movie dialogue or musical compositions)
  19.  The entry does not contain any commercial content that promotes any product. 
  20. No animals were harmed or manipulated in the making of the image.
  21.  The South African Mobile Photo Awards will advise the Award Winners telephonically.
  22. The decision of the South African Mobile Photo Awards judging panel is final and no negotiations will be entered into.
  23.  Judging will be based on the portfolio of work entered for each category. South African Mobile Photo Awards and the Judges reserve the right to remove any entry that does not comply with the following criteria as set out in these terms and conditions.
  24.  Entrants agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of their names and likeness for the purposes of promotion and publicity without compensation. South African Mobile Photo Awards will have the right to display images on social network websites such as Facebook and Instagram.
  25.  South African Mobile Photo Awards further confirm that all information collected by them in relation to Entrants shall be collected, distributed and stored in accordance with the necessary legislative and regulatory prescripts..
